How The Lifespan of LED Lights Saves Businesses Money

LED lights are currently the most popular choice of lighting solution in both the commercial and public service areas.  One of the reasons for this is the fact that when we directly compare LED lighting with more conventional (now considered old style) lighting solutions with see an increased energy efficiency.  The energy efficiency is actually almost 90% more when using LED light bulbs so it is already fairly easy to see why they have such an awesome reputation.  But there are even more benefits to those using LED lights to illuminate their work places and public spaces.

They Last So Much Longer

Another big reason that saw the surge in popularity of LED lights is the fact that they are so durable. The lifespan of an LED bulb is nothing short of amazing.  It massively cuts down on the maintenance time for businesses and organisations that have a large volume of lighting to look after.  LED bulbs do not burn out, which is a failing of traditional lighting methods.  Instead when they reach the end of their projected lifetime they actually start to get duller and fade.  They will actually continue long past their best performance but not as effectively.   This is known as the L70 rating, so each build has a lifespan and then a L70 rating that refers to the period when it operates less brightly, at 70%.

But Their Lifespan is Impressive

If we look at traditional forms of lighting, the bulbs used would offer the user something in the region of 750 hours of light.  Taking a step up to longer life bulbs, you would expect to see 2,000 hours.  That sounds fairly impressive, it is more than double.  However, it pales into insignificance when compared to LED bulbs.   We expect 50,000 light hours from each LED bulb - a massive jump from the longer life bulbs.  What this means is that you could use an LED bulb for 10 hours a day - in a factory for example - and each bulb would give you almost 14 years use.  That is really quite impressive and means you will instantly make a saving on replacement costs.  Not just the cost of the bulbs, but the resources and manpower that normally handle maintenance for you.

Other Features That Save Money

As well as having such an impressive lifespan, LED bulbs can offer businesses other benefits.  The fact that they are up to 90% more efficient for example, means that you will also be making a massive saving on your electricity bills.  They simply do not need as much energy to provide the high level of light that they offer.  So, although there is the initial outlay of changing your existing system over to a newer LED system, you will actually be making a very smart investment, as the combined savings from the lower maintenance schedule and the significantly smaller energy bills will quickly lead to a sizeable saving of money.   When you add to this the fact that LED lights are much better for the environment, there really is very little argument for staying with an older system.
