Bring On The LED Streetlight

In recent years many councils are rumoured to be turning off streetlights in order to save money. Sadly this doesn’t encourage a sense of safety, and many residents are unhappy with streetlights being turned off. Saving costs and the environment is big on the agenda for local councils and the government, but it seems a happy spot has yet to be found...until the introduction of the LED streetlight.

A Beacon of Light and Hope

LED lights are becoming wider spread and used by the public sector more. Whilst LED lights seems expensive, they are in reality very cheap to run, and also hardy. This means that LED lights last much longer than traditional halogen or fluorescent lights.

The London borough of Bexley council has recently made the swap to LED lights, much to the delight of the local residents.

White Light Rather Than Yellow Light

Streetlights traditionally come in yellow light which do give a pleasant, old fashioned look to a street. LED lights typically offer a white that mimics natural daylight and offers more clarity. Driving at night can be stressful, but LED lights can light the way and help residents with feeling more secure and make parking that bit easier.

Improved Sense Of Security

LED lights offer a better sense of security and Bexley residents have reported positive feedback when walking in late evening: “I already feel much safer walking home in the dark.”

An Investment Worth Making

LED lights are an investment not only for the benefit of the local residents, but also for the environment. As many people are opting to use electric cars and use public transport, it makes sense for public sector services to choose similar options. LED lights can meet this need and help save the environment, all the while helping reduce running and maintenance costs.
